What are Hobbies? The Universal gist is that “It is a leisure-activity pursued for Pleasure.” For some people hobbies are for fun, for passing time. For a few others hobbies can mean earning some amount of money. Even small businesses are sometimes considered as hobbies. And for the majority of the population summer is the only time for hobbies. For people who consider hobbies as a non-profit activity, here is an information- interests like photography, woodworking, stamp-collecting and scrap-booking can help you make money.

Conditions to test if your hobby could be deemed as a business:

If your hobby is accomplished with reasonable anticipation to make earnings.

If you depend on the proceedings earned from your hobby.

If you believe if your hobby can help you gain better profit in future from the positive reception of the usage of resources.

If you have considered different methods of implementing your hobby to acquire a yield or sum of money.

If you have ended up making a yield from your pleasure activity.

Even though your hobby doesn’t provide room for proceedings, it can be considered a business. Few people’s hobbies can make huge sum of money, but they may not be aware of it or the other reason can be lack of interest.

But if your ideal hobby is likely to make money in every possible year or so, you may be subjected to tax propositions. Let the IRS know about your pay for every activity you accomplish. If you consider your activity only as a leisure, your investment cannot exceed your expectations. But involving your interests in trade or business may help you deduce your miscellaneous expenses.

1) If you receive bill from IRS demanding to make payment for late tax along with the penalty and if you are not in a position to remit the entire amount, its better to take a loan and get done with it rather than making payments in installments.

2) It is possible to make the payment using your credit card. Visit IRS.gov for whom to contact with this regard.

3) The interest rate while you pay through a loan or credit card is lower than the interest worked out by IRS as penalties.

4) The penalty owed could also be paid by cheque, electronic transfer or money order.

5) It is also possible to request to IRS for arrangement of payment in monthly installments. In order to avail this facility, all your returns must be filed and tax estimations must be up-to-date.

For more details, visit the official website of IRS.

In the course of the school vacation, children below the age of 13 years need someone who can take good concern of them, whose parents will be working or who are looking out for an employment.

IRS would help you to identify the Five Essentials about how to gain credit on tax for expenses spent on childcare. The Credit for Dependent and the Child Care can be availed
for the cost incurred all through the year and also especially during the hazy and idle summer days.

1. The price of the daytime camp is a best example for the everyday expenditure

under dependent and the childcare credit unit.
2. All night camp expenditure will not qualify.

3. Tax benefit is for sure if the childcare taker is at your residence or at daycare

unit outside the residence and if you qualify for the credit.

4. Actual credit depends on the individual income, which is at the qualifying expense

of 35 percent.
5. One Qualified individual in a year can spend upto $3,000 of the non-reimbursable

expenses, similarly for more than two qualified individuals in a year can spend until

$6,000 to avail the credit.

For further details, including policy on claiming this benefit for your dependent below 13 years or more than that age whom you think is not capable to take care of self or for your partner, please go through Publication 503 of IRS, Dependent and Child Care Expenses.
The IRS publication is also made available on, IRS.gov or you can also contact

on 800-829-3676.

IRS cautions individual taxpayers to keep a check on the levels of their federal tax income in order to avoid any shock next spring. With the current fiscal year almost nearing its 3rd quarter, its high time for us to start doing the needful regarding our tax payments.

Work Pay Credit Plan has reduced the tax levels of about 120 million American families. However people who fall under specific categories are advised to check their tax levels. I would like to direct my attention towards people who hold multiple jobs, families where the couple is engaged in employment and individuals who have been certified as dependents by other pensioners and tax payers. These people are to review their withholding.

Failing to review your tax levels could lead to consequences like small amount of refund money. It could also lead you to owe a tax instead of receiving a refund the following year.In the current year the amount refunded was $2675. Records claim that 79 percent of total funds received refunds.

Retirees should be aware of the policies that are being followed exclusively in their cases since they receive a pension amount. Optional Adjustment Procedure for Pension must be taken into account.

For more information on this regard, visit the official website of Internal Revenue System. It offers wide range of news regarding tax.

Doubts and Queries are welcome.
