Here is the second part on saving on groceries.
1) Choose the right shop. For instance, in the place I live certain items are cheaper in certain shops, hence i try to find shops for each purpose. However make sure you don’t travel around much hopping from shop to shop and waste money on commuting.
2) Make online purchase of groceries to avoid impulsive buying. This way you can ensure you just buy the items that are necessary
3) Cook in bulk. Spend some more time and cook a lot. Freeze the food and use it again. This way you save time, money as well as energy.
4) As meat is quite expensive, try to plan vegetarian meals for a few times in a week. This could save money as well as boost your health condition in more than one way.
5) Keep yourself updated with the offers on the stores and make use of them, although do not fall victims of marketing tactics and spend more.
The key to saving on grocery lies in one mantra ‘Buy what you need, and just Buy what you need’.

Having written about a frugal recipe today, i am in a mood to write something related hence i have chosen to write about basics of saving on grocery. Not that i am an expert at it. Even i am a beginner just like all of you, so here is what i am gonna try for the next few weeks and see if it works.
- I am going to plan my weekly meal ahead. Lots of posts on saving on grocery advise that it helps. So i am going to take time to make a list of what i would be making for the entire week.
- As the result of the first step, i would know what i would need, hence i would make a list of all the grocery items i need and go shopping only once a week. Also i will stick to the list.
- I am not going to go shopping while i am hungry because that way i will end up buying a lot of junk.
- I am going to compare the prices of various shops and various brands before settling in for one.
- Finally i am going to keep all the receipts and enter them into a spread sheet.
If i follow this for a week, i would know how much money is approximately being spent on grocery, hence i would be able to make a budget for grocery from next month. Also while entering the details of receipts in a spread sheet i would know the rates of items in different shops. Not only that looking at the individual items entered would make me realize what i need and what i don’t from the next time.
Have anything else in your mind? Please share with me, for i am in need of help.
