While thinking about the second frugal recipe to post for this week, i came across this one on a blog. It claims to cost only $6 and even lesser if any of the ingredients are bought on discount/sale. So lets see how to make this tasty yet cost efficiet country Pie.
To make country pie you need 1lb ground beef, 14oz of spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese and 3-4 cups of uncooked white minute rice. As a first step, brown and then drain the ground beef, add half cup of sauce to the meat. Spread this evenly into a 13×9 dish. Add the remaining sauce to the rice. Spread the rice on the meat. Sprinkle cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes at 350. Now remove the foil and bake it uncovered for 15 minutes. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Now your pie is ready to serve with garlic bread or just bread& butter. It can also be served with some veggies or a salad.
The blog states that it serves a family of 3 for two nights (dinner).

As a part of 8000credit’s money saving posts, i have decided to give the readers frugal recipes twice a week. We all love food and spend a whole lot of money on dining outside. Cooking is all the more fun when done with friends and family , sometimes a great stress buster even if you are alone. Why not treat our taste buds in a way that it is not harsh on our wallet?
So here is the first recipe in this section. Today i am gonna tell you how to make a simple vegetarian rice meal in half hour.
All you need is a tablespoon of curry powder, some oil , a cup of white rice, some chopped onions, a can of mixed vegetable , salt to taste and some water.
Now getting down to how to prepare this dish, heat some oil of your choice ( vegetable, sunflower or olive) in a saucepan that is deep, add the curry powder and let it heat till the mixture boils. Now add a cup of white rice and mix till the rice is well coated. Add salt according to your taste. Now pour enough water to cover the rice. Toss in a tin of mixed vegetables and chopped onions. Let the mixture cook for about 25 minutes till the rice is done. Now the rice is ready to serve. I would love to add a bit of lemon juice to this rice or you could sauté and throw in some sausage to make the dish more hearty!!!
