Save Money on College Transportation

Travel forms a major part of a student’s life. Everyday one needs to travel miles for various reasons(apart from traveling to campus) like buying books, groceries, getting a hair cut, taking extra classes etc. The list goes on. But the bottom line is students need to travel a lot and traveling involves a lot of money. So here are few tips on how to save money as students while traveling.

Start Walking:

When the distance covered is less, do not hesitate to walk. Although it takes a lot of time to walk, you could save money plus stay fit. If you think its a boring option, start revising your notes on the way , listen to music or read a novel that you wanted to but didn’t find time to. But be careful not to get yourself hit by a vehicle.

Begin Bicycling:

Agreed you have to spend some amount in getting a Bicycle, helmet and a lock but once the initial investment is done, its gonna be quite useful. The mode of transport is faster than walking, more lively, helps you to stay fit and you could cover longer distances.

Public Transport:

This option is the best if you are traveling long distances. If your campus is miles away and bicycling is out of question, use public transport. Although expensive than the previous option, it saves money compared to using your car or hiring a cab.

Carpool:

Find out about friends who live nearby, meet up at one point everyday, travel together and share the expenses.

Find a One Stop Spot for Shopping:

Instead of going around the entire city to buy various things, settle on one locality that has all stores to supply your needs. Also its absurd to get your books from one end of the town and travel to the other end to get a pedicure.

Stay Close to Campus:

Staying in the dorm rooms inside the campus could be an expensive affair, but staying a few blocks from the campus is an ideal option if you want to save time and money on traveling.

Make Use of Student’s Discount:

Irrespective of your mode of transportation, train bus or plane, students are always eligible for certain discounts. Look out for such discounts and make use of them.
