Cut your Televesion bill into Half

In today’s scenario, i would be surprised if i hear that someone doesn’t have a television. It has been now added to the list of basic necessities like Food , Shelter and Clothing.

However taking into consideration the hectic schedules that we follow, we don’t spend more than 5 hours a week in front of the television. At least thats the case with me. I have opted for a deluxe pack from my cable operator that includes all channels but i hardly find myself spending time watching the shows unless there is a nice movie premiering on HBO or there is an important event like Academy Awards or ICC Championship Final Match.

This package was useful when i used to live with my parents as someone or the other would be watching television. Now that i stay with my grandpa, its being wasted. He sticks to channels like discovery and local news channels which form a part of basic package. So i thought why not cut my television bill. Why waste money on something that i hardly make use of.

Here is what i am gonna do:

1 I am gonna switch my package to a basic one that will save me a minimum of $40 per month.

2 I am going to buy shows from i tunes’ store. I am not a fan of many shows and i don’t have time to watch many. So the cost will be around $20 per month. So this added to the basic package of my television cable connection, would be half of what i used to pay for my deluxe package.

3 I am going to make use of Internet to watch some of my fav shows for free.TV Duck and Hulu are offering a lot of shows for free(Six months back i watched two seasons of one tree hill through TV duck). Why not make use of it?

4 I am a big movie buff so i plan to join a DVD library to cut on the cost of going to theaters every time.

I hope you ask yourself if what you are paying your ‘Cable Guy’ is really worth. If you think it is, then most definitely enjoy your deluxe pack.
