The million dollar question which is in every American’s mind now a days is whether they will receive a second economic stimulus check from the government during the later part of the year as they received last year.
Though till now nothing has been decided or announced regarding the matter, yet there is an expectation in everyone’s mind that a second government stimulus checks will be sent. If it really happens then it will come around during the later part of this year.

In the year 2008 the government gave 130 million Americans economic stimulus checks. This was done keeping in mind the fact that this money would be spent on buying consumer goods and services. Hence the economy fearing recession and depression would get stimulated and would be able to fight the approaching recession. Though the success of the idea is only accepted by some and not by all.

In 2008’s government stimulus checks there were certain reservations. Everyone did not qualify for it. In order to be benefited by the checks your income needed to be below a certain level. If you crossed that limit you were not considered for the checks. There were also considerations of the size of your family.
As we have already said if the stimulus check is there then it can appear during the later part of 2009. President Obama has proposed Stimulus tax cuts of $1,000 for couples and $500 for individuals. If this passes, it might be the closest thing to an actual stimulus check that most Americans are expecting.
Moreover, if you were denied a stimulus check by the government in 2008 based on your return of 2007 there is a chance that you may qualify for a recovery rebate check. This will depend on your 2008 income which you will be disclosing in the year 2009. Another thing is that if you had a child in 2008 then also you may qualify and become eligible for the checks.

However, there is also a twist to the whole matter of receiving this proposed rebates You will not automatically receive any check or notification from the government. If you want it then you will have to claim it along with your 2008 income tax return. This makes it a little bit complicated. However, this could also be a huge potential credit which will be of immense help for many tax payers who have been hurt very badly by recent economic crisis.
Anyway we can only hope for the better and keep our finger crossed. If this second stimulus check comes it will no doubt help the economy to some extent. Some bit of good financial news will be of immense help in these times of economic downfall.

Supposedly the checks are due out in May 2009 but definately prior to June 17 all checks will be out. The 2009 Stimulus is $250 per soc sec. recepient, pensionier, soc security disability recepients, disabled vetrens, and those federal employees not covered by soc sec will alll get $250 each. The wage earners will get a $400 reduction in their federal taxes being withheld in 2009. They in essence will get $150 more is take home. ($400 (-) $20= $150 more take home than a retiree.

Most of the people I know on SSI or SSD have already received the $250.00 stimulus check. It is yet that I have received mines. Is there somewhere I can check to make sure its sent.

no if you don’t pay taxes you won’t get a stimulus check since it is income based.
Yes you will get a stimulus check without filing a 2008 tax return if you are on soc sec including soc sec disability, a pensionier, a disabled vet, or a federal retiree not covered by soc security. If you are working you will get a $400 less federal taxes withheld from you pay check. So your stimulus will be in your pay check so to speak.

A requirement of last years stimulus was that you had to have filed (I’m 95% sure of that, I didn’t pay much attention to it all). So no, you probably won’t.
Yes you had to file a 2007 tax return to get a stimulus rebate. If it is wrong or you were denied then you must file a 2008 tax return and on the line for RECOVERY REBATE CREDIT insert the letters RRC indented to the left of where you put a numeric value and the IRS will recheck you 2007 and 2008 tax returns and you will get the money you were entitled to last year with this years tax refund.

The $400 is an amount of federal taxes that will not be taken out of 20009 wages for all working individuals. If you are single you are only entitled to $400 less federal withholding. Sorry.

Don’tr know about a $25 unemployment stimulus check for 2009 but the first $2400 of unemployment received since the stimulus was signed will be tax free in 2009. That is the first time since I think 1986 that unemployment will be tax free on the federal tax return.

Im hearing that the stimulus is gonna happen later in the year…And ive seen that they will be given out before the end of May…Ive seen several different amounts..Now im just comfused…does anyone know for sure..I was looking on the Social Security Admis. site and for People on Social Security and Supplemental Social Security its saying its gonna be 250.00 per person….so with the younger and more healthy its gonna be more? or all will be seen as the same no matter what age???

I read it will be $500 for single, and $1000 for joint filers. When, my mother heard April 1st, but it makes more sense you’ll receive it after you file taxes, because it depends on how much you made on 2008.
Are they actually MAILING out stimulus checks this year?! If so when is the exact date? OR is it just going to be tax credits thru ones paycheck? I’m reading so much information it’s confusing.
I’m hearing all types of different ways they are doing this…such as if you work it will be in your paycheck until it reaches your amount, but what if you no longer work , but payed taxes all last year?
my husband went to jackson hewitt to file his taxes and they said that they couldn’t file his taxes for some reason or another so he said ok and took his w-2 somewhere else…well he got his taxes done and recieved his income tax and check and everything….well now jackson hewitt is saying that they also gave my husband a check but they didn’t so now the irs is saying he has to pay back his income tax which is not fair because he only got one check
Perhaps you can show that you did not encash the check etc. This might give a clue to IRS that he only got one check.
My son is on SSI and we just got a letter stating that he will be getting $250 deposited into his account toward the later part of May, but no later than the first week of June. This is a set, standard amount that is being sent to anyone on Social Security and/or SSI regardless of income, age, health, or otherwise. If you’re on it, you’re getting it. If you go to http://www.socialsecurity.gov you will be able to find out all the answers to any other questions you may have.
The irs has a phone number to call for questions about the 2009 economic rebate checks (1 866 234 2942) and if you call it it prompts you to select from preset options about your question. If you do this you will find out that there will NOT be any economic stimulus checks being mailed out this year. I was shocked. I’ve heard everywhere that there will be and I was relying heavily on receiving some extra money but now I’m doubting, the irs seems like a pretty good source to rely on for information.

I was laid off Dec. 5th of 2008, of which I made over 86,000 dollars, paid all my taxes, etc…I have rec’d the extra 25 dollars a week for unemployment stimulus this year. My question is, will I still get a 250 or 400 dollar check from the government stimulus checks? And if so, when?

I just called the IRS stimulus information number, it plainly states that there WILL NOT be a check sent out as there was last year. It seems to me that Obama should at least have an address to the people explaining the reasons that we are once again getting screwed by his ridiculous economic plan.I think Joe Q. The hard working “legal” citizens are not eligible for a stimulus refund are being screwed!!! Congress is in the process of passing a stimulus bill for illegal immigrants to be eligible for a tax credit of $500 for individuals and $1,000 for couples. And check under “Hill Republican: Stimulus Aids Illegal Immigrants”. If I’m not eligible for a stimulus refund even though I work and pay my taxes then no one should receive a refund, especially people who don’t pay taxes and are paid under the table because of INS issues. SSI and other disability issues are not the same as what I am talking about so no haters on that please.
Why are only some people getting a check and not everyone that needs it. One of my friends got a check for 3000.00 dollars when people like myself are barely make it by. The checks should be given to everyone that has low income not just people on ssi. There is something wrong with this country when the ones that really need help can’t get any. I guess it doesn’t matter just as long as the rich keep getting richer. I work every day and still am not making it, where my check!!!!!!

I received a stimulus check in 2008 & was told I’d receive 1 in June of 2009. Well to make a long story short it’s now February 2010,still waiting on that June 2009 check,and now I hear talk of a stimulus check being sent to people in 2010 for 2009! I just want to know what happen to the 1 on still waiting on from going on a year ago. I just wanna know what’s really going on? Why have people waiting and depending on something that’s never gonna come? I’m clueless….
